The Road to Nhill - Rated - TEPID
A terrific Australian ensemble cast is the highlight here. And from
within the ensemble, Monica Maughan and Lynette Curran are the
standouts. Also starring is the Australian rural countryside and the
totally original musical score. And much of the dialogue is excellent.
Unfortunately, all these pluses are not enough to sustain the film for
its full length. The problem is that there is not enough in the plot to
go the distance. And that's a pity, because the essence of the film is
that nothing much happens, and yet a lot does happen for some of the
characters. The character actors save the film, and make it extremely
moving at times. But it is still a little film that is too long for its
own good.
Watch the film makers though - they have real talent.
