Brassed Off

Brassed Off is a better film than The Full Monty, I think, because it aims at more depth. It is not just a series of characters lined up with problems and a mad plan. It tries to paint a portrait of a town and its dignity. Maybe it also slides off into schmaltz a little - and that is cheating - but it is a more fully- rounded film, and for that reason I think it will stay with me longer than the bit of fun that is The Full Monty. And, strangely, the music is great!
