Vertigo
Another masterpiece from a director at the height of his powers, also highlighting the considerable virtuosity of the late Jimmy Stewart. And don't forget Kim Novak, a very talented actress who plays a dual role most intriguingly, and looks wonderful doing it. Her cool beauty in this film was part of her brilliance as an actress, and those who say she sleepwalked through the film have not been paying attention. Stunningly beautiful to look at, this film also has a brilliant Bernard Herrmann score (although I think the restorers of the film may have cranked the volume up a little too high). I've seen this film on the big screen 3 times in the last year or so, and it rewards every viewing.
